Teaching and learning situation
- Will occur if the extension educator creates an appropriate teaching-learning situation.
- The effective extension educator can create and manage learning situations in which learners have effective learning experiences
- The effective teaching-learning situation has five essential elements (Legans, 1960)
- An effective instructor or leader
- Learners who want and need to learn
- Content or subject matter which is suitable to learners
- Appropriate instruction equipment and materials
- An appropriate physical environment

Lardizabal (1999) mentioned that the teacher is responsible for creating an atmosphere, where the learning can be facilitated. In addition to physical facilities following atmosphere facilitates learning.
- Encourages learner to be active
- Promotes and facilitate the individual’s discovery of the personal meaning of the ideas
- Different ideas can be discussed but not necessarily accepted
- Consistently recognizes the individual’s right to make mistakes
- Evaluation is a cooperative process
- Individuals feel they are respected and accepted
