Social Mobilization as a tool for poverty alleviation
- One who is better off today might turn destitute tomorrow and who is poor today could become affluent tomorrow.
- Social mobilization for poverty alleviation may be initiated by members of community or by social mobilization agency through and individual to bring about change in society. The social mobilizer, however, does not tell about what to do, but works partnership with them, listening to their concerns and their aspiration, while at the same time exposing them to the new ideas.
- Socioeconomically disadvantaged people have no resources other than human resource capital. Therefore, it may require guidance to recognize their full potential to contribute their individual and community development and to translate this potential to into action
- The Assumption: In a society people are willing to a potential to do their so many things themselves for their betterment and wellbeing of their family and society community. But they often need initial assistance to reveal hidden resources and discover the potential of working together
