About Lesson
Metabolism of protein
- Transamination:
- It is the transfer of amino group from amino acid to α-ketoglutaric acid.
- This reaction occurs with the help of aminotransferase enzymes.
- Deamination :
- Involves removal of amine group from amino acid and convert into acid.
- Decarboxylation:
- It is the removal of the carboxylic acid group from an amino acid by the presence a of decarboxylase enzyme.
