About Lesson
Pathogenesis, signs, and symptoms of Protozoal infection in insects
- Have low virulence (chronic infection) that often does not kill an insect.
- Infected insects frequently do not exhibit marked external signs and symptoms (e.g. color changes and abnormal movement or behavior).
- Infected insects become chlorotic or whitish, are reduced in size, and remain in the immature stages much longer than the uninfected individuals.
- Turns to milky white and the integument of dead insects remains firm and does not readily disintegrate.
- Nosema bombycis: causes discase in silkworm
- Malpiagnamoeba locustaeecauses: cause disease in Grasshopper
- Glusea mesnili: attack on Pieris rapae
