Pathway of water in root:
The entry of water into the root hair dilutes the cell sap. Thus water molecules in root hair increase as compared to adjacentcellsl. At this stage, the DPD of root hair cells is lower than that of adjacent cells and water enters these cells. The process continues till the water reaches the passage cells of the enodermis which is present opposite to the protoxylem. They allow water to enter the pericycle, In the xylem, turgor pressure is lacking. So, water enters the xylem from the pericycle for the upward movement of sap.
