About Lesson
  1. Ministry of population and Environment (September, 1995)

 

  • This Ministry was established in 1995 by His Majesty’s Government of Nepal. It is primarily responsible for formulation; and implementation of polices, plans and programmes.
  • This ministry is also responsible for preparing environment related Acts, Rules and Guidelines, conducting environmental surveys, studies and researches: disseminating information and carrying out public awareness programmes.
  • It also performs the function of monitoring and evaluation, development of human resources and acts as a national and international focal point in the domain of population and environment.

 

 

  1. Parliamentary Committee:

 

  • Under the constitution of the kingdom of Nepal 1990, a parliamentary committee of Natural Resource and Environment in the House of Representative has been formulated.
  • This committee oversees natural resource and environment legislation before it is submitted to parliament. It is also responsible for examining environment issues and suggesting appropriates action to the government, and acts as the country’s “Watch Dog” for the environment.

  • EPC has designated focal point at the joint secretary level of the chosen Ten Ministries.
