About Lesson
Degree of freedom and how does it affect the precision
- Degree of freedom are the no. of independent observations that has the freedom to vary in the data sample.
- The degree of freedom is n-1.
- Degree of freedom are important to make inference from sample.
i.e. Degree of freedom (df) = no. of independent observations – no. of population parameter.
- Degree of freedom affects the resulting estimates and the shape of the distribution.
