About Lesson
Factorial experiment
- Two or more treatment analyzed at the same time.
- The experiments that involve simultaneously more than one factor and each factor is at two or more levels.
- Powerful technique for analysis of experimental results with more than one factor.
- Done to study interaction.
- Experimental designs like CRD, RCBD study only one factor but factorial experiment deals with more than one factor at a time i.e. fertilizer, battery and feed simultaneously.
- Example: to make tea we must use three factors like milk, sugar and tea leaves.
- Is a variational trial and not an experimental design.
Importance of factorial experiment
- Assist to study combine effect of two or more factors when are used simultaneously.
- Helps to study individual effect of each factor as well as their interaction.
- Allows estimation of experimental errors in two ways.
