- Compute the confidence interval for a mean using the equation : X̄ ± SE (t*).
Ans: Confidence interval estimates how far away the population mean is likely to be.
Here,
X̄ = 5.770 , SE = 0.335 and t* = 2.080
Now, by formula ,
X̄ ± SE (t*).
Or, 5.770 ± 0.335 x 2.080
This means, 5.770 + 0.335 x 2.080 = 6.467
5.770 – 0.335 x 2.080 = 5.073
Therefore, the confidence interval is ( 5.073,6.467).
