Sampling
- Refers to process of drawing out sample that will adequately justifies or represent the characteristics of entire population.
- The features of sampling include the following:
i. Representativeness
ii. Independent
iii. Adequacy
iv. Unambiguous (clear) and definite
v. Represent different areas of universe
Aims of sampling
a) Reduce cost of research
b) generalize about a larger population
c) In some cases, analysis may be destructive. So, sampling is needed.
Factors affecting sample size
- Types of analysis to be employed.
- The level of precision needed.
- Population homogeneity/ heterogeneity
- Available resources
- Sampling technique used
