Sampling Methods/Techniques

a) Probability sampling:

• Gives most reliable representation of whole population.
• Here, Sample from a larger population are chosen based on theory of probability.
• Most be random selection.
• Requirement: Equal chance of getting selected.
• Core: Every sample has equal probability of selection.

b) Non-probability sampling:

• Relies on the judgement of the researcher.
• Some element has no chance of selection.
• Doesn’t allow estimation of sampling errors.
• Probability of selection can’t be accurately determined.
