About Lesson
Sampling Methods/Techniques
a) Probability sampling:
- Gives most reliable representation of whole population.
- Here, Sample from a larger population are chosen based on theory of probability.
- Most be random selection.
- Requirement: Equal chance of getting selected.
- Core: Every sample has equal probability of selection.
b) Non-probability sampling:
- Relies on the judgement of the researcher.
- Some element has no chance of selection.
- Doesn’t allow estimation of sampling errors.
- Probability of selection can’t be accurately determined.
