About Lesson
Advantages of DSR
- Reduce cost of production.
- Reduce the cost of tillage in the following order.
i.e. ZT-DSR > CT-dry > DSR > wet DSR > Transplanted rice.
- Avoidance of problems and cost of nursery bed preparation, seedling raising, uprooting, transporting, and transplanting.
- Crops can be harvested 7-10 days earlier.
- Increase input use efficiency, fertilizer, irrigation water, etc.
- Reduce women’s drudgery.
- Address the problem of labor shortage.
Limitations / Disadvantages of DSR
- Problems in crop stand establishment due to weather stress (drought and flooding ), and damage caused by pests like rats, and birds.
- Weed problem is higher than in transplanted rice.
- Poor availability of technicians and machines for ZT-DSR.
