Dapog method :

• Came to Nepal from the Philippines.
• Seed bed preparation is not necessary.
• Seedlings are raised in open fields, polythene sheets, cemented floors, wooden platforms, or banana leaves.
• The area requirement is only 40 m² per hectare.
• Banana stems or woods are used to protect the side of the bed.
• Sprinkle water 3 times daily.
• Seedlings are ready for transplanting within 2 weeks.
• Thus, in this method, seedlings are grown under soil-less conditions.

Advantages of the Dapog method :

• Less area is required compared to dry and wet bed methods.
• Seedlings are ready for earlier transplanting.
• This provides an opportunity to escape from disease and insects.
• No need to apply chemical fertilizer.
• Easier to uproot seedlings.

Disadvantages and limitations of the Dapog method :

• Seedlings are delicate and weak.
• Raising seedlings and transplanting is more technical.
• Seedlings should be transplanted in 2 weeks.
