Dry bed method and bed method :
The major difference between these methods is the methods of seedbed preparation and seed treatment (incubation). Both the methods have both advantages and disadvantages comparatively.

Dimension of individual bed :
- Area of seed bed is 5% of main field or 500 m2 per ha.
- Length depends on farmers convenience generally 8-10 m.
- Width : 1-1.5 m
- Height : 10-15 cm.
- Spacing between beds : 30-50 cm.
- Spacing faciliate sowing , irrigation , drainage and intercultural operations like weeding , fertilization , spraying chemicals.
Selection of seed :
- Quality seed should be selected in terms of physical purity , germination percentage , moisture content and health.
- Buy seed from authorized seed dealer with tag or level attached on bag or packet.
- Select seed according to suitable agro-climatic conditions.
- Treat seed with chemicals like cereson wet 2.5 % or Bavistin @ 2g/kg seed.
- If the farmers uses his own seed , select healthy seed as necessity.
