Citrus Green stink Bug( Rhynchocoris poseidon, humeralis,Pentatomidae, Hemiptera)
- Serious pest of citrus.
Damaging stage: Nymph and Adult
Damaging symptoms: Suck the sap from the tree, flowers and fruit will subsequently fall, and stems can turn discolored and die, young shoots are mottled, fruits drop, and brown patches appear on the fruit skin.
Identification:
Egg: the upper surface of the leaves Nymph: wingless
Adult: triangular-shaped, prothorax with spine, green color.
Management
- Spray wood ash over the plant parts during the morning
- Encourage the activity of natural enemies like tachinid flies, head ants, Spiders
- Egg parasitoid Trissolcus basalis and nymph parasitoid Trichopoda pennipes are reported to be effective in biologically controlling the bug.
- Use leguminous and cruciferous plants as trap crops to reduce infestation on the main crop.
- Spray Roger (Dimethoate) 30%EC @ 2ml/liter water at fruit formation
