Field cricket(Brachytrupes portentous, Gryllidae, Orthoptera)

Identification

  • Egg: laying on the soil
  • Nymph: similar but are smaller and lack wings.
  • Adult  Field crickets are black or dark brown insects about 1 inch long as adults. They have large hind legs (for jumping) and most have well-developed wings.

 

Management

  • Deep plowing during winter
  • Flooding the field
  • Blue-type wasp is a predator
  • Fenitrothion 50%Ec @1ml/l.
