Pink boll worm (Pectinophora gossypiella , Gelechiidae ,lepidioptera)

Identification

  • Egg: white, flat and
  • Larva  white and turns
  • Pupa: Most pupation occurs in the top layer of soil beneath cotton
  • Adult: ark brown body, numerous black spots on wings, frings are present on both forewings and hindwings. Vegetation is found in hind wings .

 

Management

  • Early maturing variety preferred
  • Destruction of offseason cotton sprouts /alternate
  • Acid delinted
  • Balanced
  • Pheromones traps and light
  • Trichogramma @150000 weekly
  • Avoid rationing.
  • Seed fumigation 
  • Chloropyriphos @1-2 ml/l.
