Plume moth ( Exelastis atomosa)
Damaging stage: larva
Damaging symptoms:
- Pin head size holes on pods
- Small spiny caterpillars and pupae are seen on the pods
Identification of the pest
- Egg: white, singly
- Larva : greenish brown, fringed with radiating hairs and spines
- Pupa : small hair are +nt , +nt in leaf debris , greenish-brown like
- Adult – is a delicate, brown-colored small moth with plumed wings.
Management
- Mechanical collection of grown-up larva and blister beetle
- NPV
- Apply any one of the following insecticides:
- Azadirachtin 03 % WSP 2500-5000 g/ha
- Bacillus thuringiensis var kurstaki 5%WP1000-1250 g/ha
- Dimethoate 30% EC 1237 ml/ha
- Emamectin benzoate 5% SG 220 g/ha
- Spinosad 45%SC 125-162 ml/ha
- NSKE 5% twice followed by triazophos 05%
- Neem oil 2%
