Plant Protection Act, 2064 (2007)

“Pest” means a rat, bird, microplasm, nematode virus, weed, or pathogenic agent injurious to plants or plant products;  and this term includes many species or subspecies. “Biological control agent” means any agent such as a parasite, counter parasite, or predator that may be used to control pests through the biological method; this term includes mushrooms, bacteria, fungi, and viruses.

 

According to Chapter 2, there are Provisions relating to the Committee and Organization Establishment of the Committee:

 

There shall be a Plant Quarantine Committee to make advice and suggestions to the Government of  Nepal n   licies on the quarantine of plants or plant products. According to chapter 3there aree Provisions relating to an entry permit, sanitary certification, and export certificate

.

A person or body wishing to import plants, plant products, biological control agents, beneficial organisms, or means of growing plants such as soil, moss, and pit shall obtain the entry permit under this Act.

 

Phyto-sanitary certificate for export or rere–exportA person or body wishing to export plants, plant products, biological control agents o, or beneficial organisms may obtain the phyto-sanitary certificate. A person or body wishing to re-export to another country any plants, plant products, biological control agents, or beneficial organisms imported into Nepal may obtain the re-export phytosanitary certificate.

 

In Chapters 4-4, there are Provisions relating to inspection, test, t, and treatment. In Chapter 5 Provisions relating to the control of pests
