  • are crop-based farming systems.
  • Eg: Rice-wheat based in the Terai region , Maize based in the hilly and mountain region

 

b) Pastoral farming:

  • are animal-based farming system
  • Dairy /poultry-based in terai, Goat based in hilly region, Sheep/changrya/yak/ based in high mountains

a) Mixed farming :

  • Combination of two or more enterprises independently at the same time
  • Less profitable and Less sustainable system
  • Eg : Dairy + fishery , Dairy + poultry

 

b) Integrated farming system :

  • Combination of two or more interdependent enterprises at the same time.
  • more profitable and more sustainable system
