About Lesson

Farming system research methodology :

FSR is a continuous process and has five stage process viz :

a) Descriptive and diagnosis stage :

  • Its main objective is to analyze the environment in which the system operates that affects the farming system and identification and analysis of the problem constraints.
  • Its procedures are: Informal survey, Formal Survey, Special purpose survey, and analysis of secondary data.

b) Design stage / Planning stage :

  • Its main objective is screening the existing technologies to solve the target problem and formulation of improved tech.
  • Its procedures are: On station experiment, on-farm experiment, and Ex-ante analysis.

c) Testing stage :

  • Its objective is the determination of the adoptability of new technologies throughout the recommendation domain.
  • Its procedures are: On-farm experiments, multilocation trials, pilot production programs, and front-line demonstrations.

d) Evaluation stage :

  • It includes adaptability study, impact study, acceptance test, and others.

e) Extension stage :

  • Upscaling and out-scaling of high-impact technologies by extension workers.

f) Policy Formulation stage :

  • Internalization of high-impact technologies in the regular program of MOA.
