Mulato

Introduction

  • Perennial, Tetraploid hybrid with semi-erect growth habit.
  • Stems are strong, cylindrical, and pubescent.
  • Capable of rooting when they come in close contact with soil.
  • The seed rate is 4-5 kg/ha if broadcasted.
  • Requires 120:60:20 Kg NPK per ha for a good yield.
  • Has excellent forage production, abundant foliage, vigorous re-growth, and excellent palatability.

Feed intake and digestion of forages

  • Warm-season grasses produce much edible dry matter but are typically low in digestibility and have lower forage quality than temperate-grown grasses.
  • Has superior herbage mass (HM), herbage allowance rate ( HAR), and nutritive value.

Soil

  • Grows very well in poor soils.
  • Can tolerate water logging and should not be planted in low-lying damp areas.
