Program

  • Is a prospect, list of events, plan of procedure.
  • Derived from the Latin word pro means before and “Graphien” which means to write.
  • According to USDA 1956 an extension program is arrived at cooperatively by local people and extension personnel and includes the statement of
  1. The situation in which the people are located
  2. The problems that are a part of the local situation
  3. The objective and goal of people about these problems
  4. The recommendation to reach these objectives on a long term & short-term basis

 

Planning

  • Derived from the Latin word “Planta” which means sole means which provides a base for an
  • organizational body to stand on.
  • In general planning means an outline, draft, map, or scheme, for making doing, or arranging something Program planning.
  • Program planning answers the question of six Ws i.e. What, Why, How, When, Where, and whom?

 

Goals

  • Are desired outcomes or targets?
  • They guide management decisions and form the criterion against which work results are measured.
  • There Are two types: Stated goals and Real goals.

i) Stated goals—official statements of what an organization says, and what it wants its stakeholders to believe, its goals are.

ii) Real goals—those goals an organization pursues—observe what organizational members are doing. Actions define priorities.
