Technology transfer process is explained with six phases:

  1. Technology innovation:
  • Starts communicating ideas of how science can be used to solve a problem or improve a situation in a research priority area.

 

  1. Technology confirmation:
  • Scientist first conducting research which provides data in support of the underlying theory about
  • technology and then communicating the results to colleagues, peers and administrators.

 

  1. Targeting:
  • Decisions need to be made concerning who needs and can potentially benefit from the technology.
  • Scientists and marketing personnel are involved.

 

  1. Technology marketing:
  • Transmitting information through mass media.

 

  1. Technology application:
  • Identifying consumers’ behavior patterns.
  • Establishing application criteria.
  • Developing ways to monitor change and/or application.

 

  1. Technology evaluation:
  • Establishing evaluation criteria.
  • Document % of consumers satisfied with technology.
  • Document benefits acquired from technology.
