Introduction
- Compounds in living organisms are divided into two main groups:
a) Primary metabolites b) Secondary metabolites
A) Primary metabolites:
- Produced in glycolysis and Kreb’s cycle
- Involved in respiration and photosynthesis
B) Secondary metabolites:
- Important intermediate in the formation of primary metabolitese such as phenylalanine, tyrosine, tryptophan, and steroid respectively.
