The upward movement of water occurs through the xylem tube. It can be shown by simple experiments. If a twig of the plant is taken and kept in strength form in a beaker containing colored solution. After some time, it’ll be observed that the leaf of the twig remains fresh. The twig is taken out and the transverse section of the stem is. The TS of the stem shows that the colored solution is filled only in an xylem tube. It means that the upward movement of water occurs only through the xylem tube.
