Root pressure theory:

According to this theory, the upward movement of water occurs due to root pressure which develops in the root due to the accumulation of absorbed water.

This theory is also discarded because the upward movement of water occurs even in the absence of roots in the plant body. Root pressure can raise water only up toa few centimeters in height but no. of plants are very tall.
