Commercial farming:
- Commercial farming occurs when a farm is set up for the sole purpose of producing crops and farm animals for sale, with the sole intention of making a profit.
- Because of the immense competition involved, commercial farms are often larger than family farms.
- People are employed from outside due to the higher level of work required. However, family members can be involved.
- It tends to make use of new technology to increase output and create competitive advantage.
Apiculture
- Apis means bee. The scientific names of different species of honeybees begin with the generic name.
- Apiculture or bee-keeping is the art of caring for and manipulating colonies of honeybees in large quantities, over and above their requirement.
