The concept of biodiversity conservation:

a) Save it:

  • The save it step in conservation is the first and most important to control the irreversible process of extinction of natural populations and species.
  • The establishment of protected areas has been the most important step in saving the ecosystem, species, and genetic diversity.

b) Know what it is: The crucial factor in the use of biodiversity is the inventory of genetic resources of the country. The great diversity of flora and fauna of Nepal has attracted scientists from different parts of the world.

c) Use it sustainably:

  • Protected areas are established to conserve the biodiversity of the area.
  • For achieving this obvious restrictions are put on the potential economic use of biodiversity.
  • However, to secure the long-term existence of the national parks the local populations and the society have to achieve economic benefits from the protected areas without destroying the ecosystem.
