It is defined as a geo-hydrological unit that drains to a common point by a system of drains. All lands on the earth are a part of one watershed on another.

 

Importance of watershed:

  • Sustain the life in one or more ways.
  • Billions of foods, fibers, manufactured goods, and tourism depend on clean healthy watersheds.
  • A healthy watershed is important for very sustenance of human life.

 

Watershed management:

  • The process of formulating and carrying out course action involves the manipulation of natural resources agricultural and human resources of the watershed to provide resources that are desired by and suitable to the watershed community.

Soil and water conservation measures to be employed depends on the purpose for which the land and water are to be used. There are two broad categories
