Chemical control:
- The use of chemicals (Pesticides) to kill, deter, change behavior, impair sterility, or influence pests for control purposes is called chemical control.
Genetic control method of insects:
- Genetic control refers to the employment of an insect to destroy its kind or self-destruction of the species.
- WHO defined genetic control as “any condition or treatment which can reduce the reproductive potential of noxious pest by altering or replacing the heredity materials”.
- This is also referred to as autocidal control, sterile insect release method (SIRM), sterile male technique (SMT,) and most commonly used sterile insect technique (SIT).
