Seed blending
- The process of mixing two or more dissimilar seed lots produces overall uniformity in the final seed lot.
- The Pearson square method is adopted for finding out the proportions of different seed lots.
- There are two types of equipment used for blending different seed lots.
a. Batch blending equipment
- When small quantities of seeds are to be mixed into different batches, the three types of blenders; Rotary drum blender, Conical mixtures, and Vertical spiral blenders are used.
b. Continuous blending equipment
- When huge quantities of seeds are to be mixed into different batches four types of equipment; Continuous centrifugal blender, Horizontal blender, Bin-feeding devices, and Multiple bin arrangements.
