Soil tilth

  • Tilth is the term used to express the physical condition of soil i.e. distribution of soil aggregates and friability of soil resulting from tillage.
  • Soil tilth is the physical condition of soil.
  • A soil is said to in good tilth when it is soft, friable and properly aerated.
  • Such soil permits easily infiltration of water and are retentive of moisture for satisfactory growth of plant.
