Fisheries
- Aquatic organisms, which are exploitable by the public as a common property resource with or without an appropriate license are known as a fishery.
- Eg: Riverine fisheries, lake fisheries, rice field fisheries, etc.
- Generally, the fisheries activities can be divided into capture fisheries and enhanced fisheries.
Capture fisheries
- No stocking
- No management of feeding, fertilization, monitoring, etc. but only harvesting.
- Provides table fish for consumption, seed, and feed for aquaculture, and seed for enhanced fisheries.
Enhanced fisheries
- Only stocking.
- No management of feeding, fertilization, monitoring, etc. but only harvesting.

Aquaculture
- Aquaculture is the farming of aquatic organisms, including fish, mollusks, crustaceans, and aquatic plants.
- Farming implies some form of intervention in the rearing processes to enhance production, such as regular stocking, feeding, protection from predators, etc.
