Gender Equity:

  • Equitable distribution of power among women belongings to all social groups. Equity is means/strategy whereas equality is outcome.
  • Gender Equity is appropriate and fair allocation of human, material and financial resources in function of the specific needs and problems of women and men in a given context.
  • For example, if women field staff cannot travel alone with a driver, but men can travel on a motor bike, an equitable allocation would be one bike per male field worker, and one car plus driver per two female field workers in order to achieve the same amount of extension work.
